A collection inspired by Carl Larsson
At Cupboards & Goods we are very proud to have been commissioned by the family trust of acclaimed Swedish artist couple Carl Larsson and Karin Bergöö Larsson to build a new kitchen for the Carl Larsson-gården in Sundborn, where the couple lived and worked from 1889 to 1912. The kitchen that Cupboards & Goods has built for the Carl Larsson family trust was showcased at the 2020 edition of Stockholm Design Week, and it will be installed in its final location at Carl Larsson-gården during the spring of 2020.
Ett Hem, a limited colour collection
The collaboration with Carl Larsson-gården has resulted in a limited edition colour collection called Ett Hem (Swedish for ‘a home’). Ett Hem consists of four hues developed in partnership with British paint and wallpaper manufacturer Little Greene. The colours, The Kitchen (Köket), The Verandah (Verandan), The Gate (Grinden) and In the Corner (Skamvrån), have been named after some of Carl Larsson’s paintings and draw heavily on the style and colour palette often used in Larsson’s most liked aquarelle works. The collection will be available for a limited time only. View the Ett Hem colour collection >
A modern family
While Carl Larsson was the eternal painter, his wife and muse Karin Bergöö Larsson gave birth to eight children and turned her focus to raising them and creating a lively family home. She designed both furniture and textiles that were, along with the children, some of Larsson’s favourite models. The Larsson family were forward thinkers in both style and family life. Contrary to common practice in those days, the couple’s children were very much a present part of family life. This is also the thought behind our kitchens. They are built to be part of everyday life, to stand the tests of time, boisterous children and hungry pets and still age gracefully.
